Human Health

continued--Indian and Chinese system of yoga combines both the physical ,and mental aspect of health and over and above, higher level of practitioners are benefited in spiritual aspect as well. There are so many sitting, standing, lying postures from simple to most intricate ones suiting for all ages that the experts in this branch suggest and train according to the prevailing health conditions  If for some reasons services of experts are not being available in the area, there are many illustrative books on yoga in different languages may help the beginners to start their practices . The beginners should see the following very carefully by reading the text and viewing the pictures again and again to accustom to the postures. Very simple and easy doing asanas should be tried first , while taking care not to hurt any limb or organ or muscle of the body by over straining or forcing to do a posture. Initially perfection may never be reached , so allow the body to that extent as will bear the pressure and if there is feeling of both stress and strain , withdraw, rest and try again. In this way a particular posture may come under the control of the practitioners. The next thing is the most vital thing for observation ; if after doing such asanas say for half an hour, a calm and pleasant feeling  pervade the entire body and mind ( when the mind will demand to keep mum and no talks !) If otherwise, there is pain, tiredness or a bad feeling , it indicates that the internal organs( outer body as well) received excess stress and strain which may permanently damage a part or whole of the body. It must be borne in mind that those who are aged must take additional care in view of their limbs and body being hardened and there has been considerable loss of flexibility to allow free movement.  After asanas pranayam and mudras may be learnt from experts only as it is difficult to learn from books only.  Commoners are not supposed to reach the highest goal of  yoga and their main purpose will be to enrich both physical and mental health. Every asana apparently physical looking has mental extension too. Whenever any asana is taken up, the mental preparation should also begin either thinking of the deity ( for believer of God ) or universal power (for atheist ) or nature power asking for a contribution to strengthen the body and the mind. This is very difficult to explain and only by practice this may be realized.                                                                ...(..to be continued...)
