The other day while coming via short cut way through a shadowy forest, I happened to accost an old fellow who smiled and beckoned me to come closer. Approaching him I was struck by his sparkling teeth though his hair showed him to be very old and the man confirmed that he was 102 years. I asked him if he was on false teeth ; he burst out into laughter and made some strong sound by hitting the teeth with a pebble and said that they were original. To my question of maintenance of such strong teeth at such prime age he told me that he learnt it from tiger and asked me to leave forthwith as the roar of a tiger was nearing . In fear I took to my heels.
I did not tread the path for a fortnight in fear of tiger. However I was very eager to meet the old fellow and so I took the risk to venture in the shadowy forest once again. I went there four or five times but failed to meet him. I was thinking if the old man was still alive or that he left the place . Anyway I was moving away when I heard a sound calling me from behind--Hey,man ar'nt you the same man who ran away after hearing the tiger sound. I nodded. and the reference of tiger once again sent a chill in me. The old man joined--That tiger whom I once saved is either dead or has left this forest. Actually what happened that the tiger was severely injured with porcupine bone in the front claw and limping. Secondly another bone of porcupine got stuck in its mouth. The tiger was roaring and even after seeing me did not attack me. To speak the truth I was terribly frightened and could hardly make any move forward or backward. I stood as if in a trance and the tiger slowly came to me and lay down on the ground. It seemed to me , man that it was seeking help from me. I showed it my leg one after the other. To much of my surprise the tiger lifted its injured claw which I found with full of puss and the bone got stuck in it. Man, you can not imagine what was my position at that time, but what asserted me that it would have easily killed me when it first saw me but it did not do it. I then prayed to God and then by holding the paw I held the bone and slowly pulled it out. The bad odor made me vomit and I was feeling extremely indisposed.. The tiger was lying on the ground showing that it got immense relief and soon fell into sleep. I was then quick enough to leave the place thanking God for giving me second life. The rotten smell lasted for three days and I had to skip my meal for the period. Who knew that I had further assignment and the tiger after seeing me from a distance came running which showed considerable improvement to which I poured down an antiseptic solution ( that I was carrying one such bottle with me to treat in case of any injury) . The tiger was showing its mouth where the porcupine bone stuck and there was severe pain and inflammation . It was indeed the toughest task in my life to pull out a bone from the mouth of a tiger. I reached 100 only 2 days before , so I thought that I have lived satisfactorily for a period which very few people can reach. I came to think that although it is an animal its main objective was to get relief from the man who had already cured its injured claw. So I took the risk ; I showed it to lie down showing the opening of mouth--and lo, it immediately did what I showed. I put a log in its mouth lest it should not bite and after seeing the bone I pulled it out from the mouth.. That time however there was profuse bleeding and I poured the antiseptic solution. While the tiger was resting, I moved away quickly . A week later I found it and after seeing me almost jumped over me, hugged me and went growling. Its pampering almost killed me , however I got up and found its sparkling teeth. Man you will be surprised to know that the tiger was chewing acacia tree which are abundant in the area of the forest. I asked the old man if the gum of the tree helped the tiger from infection made after getting the bone of porcupine stuck into the mouth. Well, man , may be so , and I have not lost any more teeth since I started chewing acacia branch..(end )
